About 4tox.net
What?
4tox.net is my website that I will use to run privacy first services. I will run these free with never any ads. 4tox.net is currently hosted in France by ovh.com and developed in Scotland by me. It is GREATLY inspired bynadeko.net, but I hope to change this website to be its own unique 'person' and not just some half-baked clone of another website (sorry Fijxu if you don't like me or this website justcontact meand I will change it).
Why?
You might be asking, what are my motives for running this website and its services? To put it simply, I love administering servers and making cool things digitally. I've never actually hosted my own website before (this is my first), but I've always loved to create some in my free time (they're all bad). I also enjoy trying new things, and this is definitely a new thing. I've been hosting a Tor middle and guard relay for a good month now (started my Tor relay in 10/2025), and I've enjoyed the process of setting it up and administering it. But sadly, there's not much admin going on with it; I just kind of let it do its thing. But I imagine running a website plus services will take some love and care to keep going (just like a car!). So that's why I do it!
Who?
My name is JR, and I'm currently living in Scotland. I am a secondary school student currently learning computing science, and hoping to move countries in the future. I've loved computers ever since I was a young and still currently love them. I started dipping my toes in GNU/Linux a few months ago, but I quickly jumped back into the safety of Windows 11, but after PewDiePie made his video on him switching over to Linux and'degoogling'his life, I followed his beliefs and ended up here. I've really enjoyed Linux and the rabbit hole that is online privacy. I currently run Manjaro Stable (boring ik) as my daily driver and maybe in the future might try Arch Linux again (don't give me flashbacks).
